Labor
Labor for a term delivery can occur any time after 37 weeks. We always encourage evaluation in labor and delivery if a patient thinks she might be in active labor.
Active labor is defined by uterine contractions that change the cervix approximately 1 centimeter per hour. Signs of labor might include:
- Spontaneous gush of fluid
- Regular contractions every 5 minutes for at least one hour
- Bleeding more than spotting
