Ultrasound
Ultrasound is an exam to check the health and well being of you and your baby without the use of radiation. It checks how far along you are, number of babies, placenta, cervix, amniotic fluid, and some abnormalities. While it is not a 100 percent guarantee of a healthy baby, when used in conjunction with other tests and physical exams it is a very useful tool. It can also be used on the non-pregnant (gyn) patient to check the uterus and ovaries. Your ultrasound may be done transvaginally (through the vagina like a pelvic exam) or transabdominally (on top of the abdomen). If it is done vaginally you do not need a full bladder. If it is done abdominally a full bladder is required to evaluate the uterus and ovaries. The full bladder pushes bowel out of the way and puts the uterus in a better position for us to visualize it. Our Ultrasonographers Julie, Robin, and Cindy, have a combined 43 years ultrasound experience as registered sonographers. They work in conjunction with the doctors to perform such procedures as obstetrical ultrasounds, amniocentisis, iud insertions, infertility work ups and gyn procedures
